iRacing Data Analysis

Over this past summer, I expanded my experience with motorsports data analysis using iRacing and Cosworth Pi Toolbox. I analyzed telemetry across a variety of cars and tracks, using the data to develop setups, understand vehicle behavior, and improve my driving.

Using Cosworth Pi Toolbox, I analyzed many parameters including ride height, shock deflection, tire temperature, and heave to better understand vehicle behavior. I used this data to see where the setup could be improved, specifically focusing on camber angles, cross weight, shock settings, roll and pitch angles, and splitter height. I would use what I saw in Pi Toolbox to make setup changes, and see the effects on vehicle balance and pace.

I also analyzed my driver inputs including throttle, brake, and steering traces to identify areas where I was losing lap time or potentially increasing tire wear. I was able to compare different laps I ran and see what I was doing differently on faster laps, focusing on braking points and how I applied the throttle.

By analyzing data and making decisions based off of what I saw, I was able to improve my setups and driving technique to compete with the best.
