FG3 Performance Engines

Over the summer of 2026, I gained experience at FG3 Performance Engines working on historic Formula One and IndyCar engines alongside modern sprint car and Silver Crown powerplants. My work included hands-on tasks such as the disassembly and cleaning of engines, inspecting of metallic and non-metallic components, and assisting with reassembly and testing. Engines I worked on include the Cosworth DFV, Ford 4-Cam Indy engine, Chevrolet Gen III IndyCar engine, 410 USAC Sprint Car engines, and 360 Silver Crown engines.
Some of the most valuable experience I gained involved assisting with cam timing and taking clearance and tolerance measurements during reassembly. These tasks gave me a better understanding of the precision required when building competition engines of this caliber.
I also gained trackside experience with a 410 Non-Winged Sprint Car and an All-Star Pavement Midget. Through this work, I learned more about stagger, shock setup, and engine tuning while seeing how mechanical setup and engine performance are evaluated in a racing environment.
Thank you so much to Frank Guerrini for this amazing opportunity, and I look forward to continuing my work throughout the fall semester!
