Camaro
In the fall of 2020, my parents and I picked up a 1967 Camaro that had been sitting in the southern California desert for over 30 years. We started by getting the car running and redoing the brakes, before sending it to my uncle to be painted. After it returned from the paint shop, we swapped the automatic, 2-speed Powerglide transmission for a manual, 4-speed Muncie transmission. After that, we tackled electrical issues by installing a new alternator, distributor, and nearly rewiring the whole car. Then came little things such as trim pieces, reattaching the bumpers, and new seats among other things. Most recently, we were able to play around with the motor. This included a new aluminum intake, new carburetor, and a cam swap.

Working on this car with my father over the years has taught me much, most importantly to me was the value of hard work. We spent hours together after school and work to get this car roadworthy, so finally being able to drive it and see the fruits of our labor was an incredibly rewarding experience. The lesson in hard work and dedication is one that I carry with me in my life today, inside and out of the classroom.
